ABOUT US

Why "Konjo"?

Konjo is an Amharic word that means “beautiful” — not just in the visual sense, but in the way something feels right.

A well-told story is beautiful
A perfectly-positioned brand is beautiful
A meaningful connection is beautiful
A versatile descriptor; a chef’s kiss, of sorts, interchangeable as nice, smart, admirable or even tasty.
The beauty mark we aim to leave behind with every project

Meet Rob
Strategist & Communications Director
Rob Crissinger brings more than 20 years of public relations and marketing communications experience to Konjo Concepts. A laid-back northern California native and lifelong surfer wannabe The Lost Ogle calls “one of OKC's most prominent pizza snobs,” Crissinger developed a natural talent for publicity and grassroots campaigns through leadership roles with Oklahoma’s leading public relations and advertising agencies after graduating from the University of Central Oklahoma with a journalism degree in 2003.
Crissinger believes support for the arts is critical to a vibrant economy and quality of life. He managed publicity for deadCenter Film Festival for close to a decade, co-founded the Wiggle Out Loud family music festival, and served as Oklahoma Arts & Culture Day co-chair in 2015.
He helped guide Oklahoma Contemporary through a comprehensive rebrand, led a refresh of the Hideaway Pizza brand as it began to expand regionally, and when the pandemic struck, joined the Oklahoma Department of Health to manage statewide and national media relations and messaging. Most recently, Crissinger served as executive director of communications for the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Crissinger has two sons, Chase and Kyler, and resides in Oklahoma City.
Meet Krystal
Founder & Strategist
Konjo was founded by Krystal, a connector and PR strategist, equal parts creator and connoisseur of good times. With a vision for elevating brands beyond the ordinary.

After earning her Journalism and Public Relations degree from The University of Oklahoma, Krystal moved to Washington, D.C., where she spent eight years immersed in the city’s vibrant professional and cultural scene. Early roles included positions at the National Restaurant Association, Comcast and Capitol File Magazine. She eventually joined TAA PR, serving as the local lead on restaurant openings and select campaigns for chefs including Daniel Boulud, José Andrés, and Fabio Trabocchi, while also supporting red carpet events and other high-profile media and notable engagements during the agency’s first decade.

Krystal returned to Oklahoma City in 2014 to reconnect with her hometown and founded Konjo in 2018, building on her three years at Bumbershoot PR - a boutique PR blueprint for this market. She has collaborated with thought leaders, hospitality brands, and government agencies from D.C. to OKC, leading impactful campaigns and cultivating meaningful connections along the way.
As an Ethiopian-American, Krystal values perspective, connection, and storytelling, recalling beautiful memories in translation between Altus, OK and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by way of an upbringing in west Oklahoma City.

The word “konjo” evolved from her grandma’s term of endearment, to the root cause and effect of an agency -  half a world away - committed to celebrating others and leaving an undeniable impact in the heartland. She brings a nuanced approach to her work, ensuring every brand gets visibility in due time - without the fluff, without the gimmicks, and in a way that would make her mom and dad proud.

Krystal is an avid supporter of community, culture and progress throughout Oklahoma. She was appointed by a former Mayor as an Arts Commissioner for the City of Oklahoma City, was a member of Leadership OKC’s LOYAL Class XI and has served on LOKC’s Alumni Board. She has spoken at Confidence Con, Marketing Minds Meet, the Black Women Voices Media Panel and the Oklahoma Justice Circle’s Breaking Bread following participation in their inaugural reconciliation trip to DC.
Krystal has been featured in The Oklahoman, 405 Magazine, Hundred Magazine, has been recognized by 405 Business Magazine as one of the Metro’s Most Influential and OKC Friday has named her one of the 50 Most Powerful Young Professionals and a member of the Most Powerful Next Generation.

She has served on a range of boards and committees including Cut It Forward, Dress for Success, Let’s Fix This, Oklahoma Contemporary, Equity Council for the Oklahoma State Department of Education, The Freedom Center and NE OKC Renaissance. In 2025, Krystal delivered her first keynote presentation to a visiting conference in the local market, was recognized as a Hometown Hero by Visit OKC and won Minority Enterprise Development OKC’s Distinguished Ecosystem Leader Award.
